Person of Choice: An Extravagant Conversation Goer
The extremely commercialized day of soft cuddly bears hugging enormous hearts, no restraint of publicly displaying affection to that special someone (Nothing passing a passionate kiss, of course. Or else, I’d have to kindly ask you to get a room..) &the amount of chocolately goodness that will soon lead to an overwhelming sale of everyone’s favorite chocolate bar has just passed about 40 minutes ago. I get the bitterness of “God, don’t you guys love each other enough every other day? Quit rubbing it in!” as well as the googly eyes over your Valentines as you’re in that over-capacitated restaurant that had your last minute reservations. Anyway, I guess this day just had to be that overly balanced or else it wouldn’t have been a traditional Valentine’s Day.
As for me— No I did not have a Valentines. No I was not showered with flowers. No I did not have any big surprising dinner reservations. HOWEVER, neither did I stuff my face with chocolates filling up a heart-shaped box. Neither did I sulk in heartbreaking Nicholas Spark films (Not that there’s a problem with that!). &Neither did I mope around renaming this day as Single Awareness Day or for our tumblr crowd, Forever Alone day. It was an ordinary Tuesday actually. &Surprisingly, no bitterness or hatefulness really followed as the day went on.
I did come to the conclusion of something though.. I don’t know what it may be if it happens to be because of all the shows I watch these days or all the one-on-one best friend/boyfriend & girlfriend/acquaintance & acquaintance dates but I did figure I was missing something. I’ve been in a great need of a good coffee shop talk. A coincidental person who happens to be enjoying themselves as am I in preoccupying ourselves with a drink in hand. Or an old acquaintance I haven’t caught up with for the past couple of years as we were busy growing up. Just someone who is insightful enough to talk with substance. Talking about how music today is hardly going anywhere, mentioning how celebrities are the worst role models of all time when it comes to marriage, or even how some friendships just don’t work no matter how hard you try.
After such a day as Valentine’s Day, I guess it got me to thinking that it’s been awhile since I’ve had that real kind of bump in with an above & beyond conversation goer. Someone to just switch perspectives with who hardly knows a thing about you but doesn’t mind telling you what they think.
A person who can just hold an endlessly interesting conversation. Where do you find those?
